New Solar Power Station for Carnarvon Underway

carnarvonConstruction starts today on a $3.4 million solar farm in Carnarvon.  
The 300KW project will be one of the biggest regional solar installations in WA, and the largest privately owned solar power station in the state.

EMC Solar Ltd. CEO John Davidson announced that an agreement with the Federal Government has been concluded through EMC’s subsidiary, Solar Farm Carnarvon Pty Ltd.  
“We greatly appreciate the $1.7 million capital rebates from the Federal Government that has made the project a possibility”, said Mr Davidson.
“I am also pleased that we have been able to negotiate a commercial agreement with Horizon Power and secure the leasehold for a 45ha site from the State Government on Massey Bay Rd, Carnarvon.”
Mr Davidson said his team at EMC see this project as just the beginning of a range of renewable energy technologies that could be deployed on the site and help provide a more sustainable energy mix for the region.
The Project is funded by the Australian Government  through the Renewable Remote Power Generation Program. The program is implemented by the State’s Office of Energy Western Australia.
